“Ducks in a Row” and Utah

Moving outside of your neat tidy box can be both exhilarating and frightening at the same time. Extending your borders, expanding your chest to fill your lungs to capacity can make you feel a bit dizzy and nauseous, but so good!

Mike would often talk about having his “Ducks in a Row,” anytime we would dream together about what is possible. You see, Mike has become a ducks in a row kind of guy…anything else would make him nervous and uncomfortable. He has become logical.. a function of life and experience. Personality tendencies shift and turn to accommodate life circumstance. Disappointments…unfulfilled hopes and dreams create our reality and logic. Expressions like “that isn’t realistic or practical” become part of our mantra. A sort of self preservation.

When do our strengths and guts appear…when we can dig deep into the raw and vulnerable dreams that are in our hardwiring…despite the potential of missing the mark.  Mike by nature is a mover and a shaker..normal for him is a very blurred line…practicality is not his friend and there are no ducks in his arsenal.   I have watched him dig deep to reveal the true risk taker that he is…moving from living in his head to living in his heart…a heart that has always longed for adventure…a heart that is beginning to feel alive and free again.

 

UTAH and the 4 Corner States

After an amazing, quiet week on the Colorado River, we moved on. This week we spent bouncing around the 4 corners. Mule Canyon, Bridges National Monument, Devil’s Canyon, Mesa Verde and then onto Albuquerque to visit my mom’s family, which made me so very happy!
